HSF week 3

  1. what direction does the fibres of a fusiform muscle run
they run straight up and down, but bulge in the centre/belly of the muscle
  2. how are muscle fibres arranged in unipennate/bipennate/multipenate muscles
    in a feather like arrangement
  3. what is isometric, miometric and plyometric
    • isometric - stays same length
    • miometric - muscles produces sufficient force and shortens
    • plyometric - load exceeds force of muscle and therefore muscle lengthens
  4. what is the fibre to nerve ratio
the number of muscle fibres controlled by a single motor neuron
  5. what are the 7 types of muscle fibre arrangements
parralel, fusiform, unipennate, bipennate, multipennate, circular, convergent
