Propranolol/Inderol

  1. CLASS:
    Sympathetic blocker
  2. ACTIONS:
    nonselectively blocks beta adrenergic receptors
  3. INDICATIONS:
    • Ventricular tachyarrhythmias and ventricular fibrillation
    • tachyarrhythmias due to digitalis toxicity
  4. CONTRAINDICATIONS:
    • asthma
    • COPD
    • CHF
    • patients dependent on sympathetic agonist
  5. PRECAUTIONS:
    • shouldn't be given concurrently with verapamil
    • atropine should be available
  6. SIDE EFFECTS:
    • bradycardia
    • heart blocks
    • CHF
    • broncho spasm
  7. DOSAGE:

    ROUTE:
    1-3mg diluted in 10-30ml of D5W given slow IV
