conditioning and learning

  1. what is classical conditioning
classical conditioning is the process where two stimulus are repeatedly paired, so that a learner will unintentionally relate the two together.
  2. what is observational learning
observational learning is a form of learning that involves a learner observing a teacher figure, then recreating their actions
  3. stages of observational learning
1st - attention : the learner needs to be aware and paying attention

2nd - retention: learner needs to retain and remember what they observe

3rd - recreation: self explanatory, recreate actions

4th - motivation: the learner must be motivated to recreate the action, or need a reason to do so.

5th - Reinforcement: this increases the likelihood that the action will be recreated in future.
  4. what is operant conditioning
operant conditioning involves a person responding to an antecedent with a behaviour,  that illicits either a reinforcement or punishment. this will either increase or decrease the likelihood of it happening again.
  5. aboriginal ways of learning
(remember to glorify as much as possible)

the aboriginal ways of learning are different to western methods, and involve many different methods.
  6. types of abo ways of knowing
some are developed in relationships,  these involve relationships with the land, people, nature and country. everything is supposedly related and wholistic, spirtual.
  7. ways of knowing specifically
they area multimodal, unique, complex, sophisticated systems that are different to western concepts of learning.
  8. behaviourist approach to learning
includes classical and operant conditioning, - learning occurs through interaction with an individual and stimulusin the environment through conditioning
  9. social - cognitive approach to learning
includes observational learning - involves theories that propose learning take place in a social setting and involves various cognitive processes.
  10. observational learning
is a process of learning that involves watching the behaviour of a model and the associated consequence of the model.
