    An unknown cause of disease

    Something that kills
  16. Mortality rate
    Aka death rate; it is related to the number of people who die with a disease in a certain amount of time
  17. Nosocomial
    A disease acquired from the hospital environment
  18. Palliative
    Something that is directed towards the relief of symptoms but does not cure
  19. Palpitation
    Feeling lightly or pressing firmly on internal organs or structures
  20. Pathogenesis
    A description of how a particular disease progresses
  21. Pathogens
    Microorganisms or agents that cause disease
  22. Pathologic
    Caused by a pathogen or a disease
  23. Pathologist
    A specialist in diseases
  24. Pathology
    The study of diseases
  25. Percussion
    Tapping over various body areas to produce a vibrating sound
  26. Predisposing factors
    Aka risk factors; make a person more susceptible to diseases
  27. Prevalent
    Occurring more often
  28. Preventive
    Something that reduces risks
  29. Prognosis
    The predicted or expected outcome of the disease
  30. Remission
    A time when symptoms are diminished or temporarily resolved
  31. Signs
    Observable or measurable factors used to determine a diagnosis
  32. Symptoms
    What patients report as their problem or problems
  33. Syndrome
    A group of symptoms that may be caused by a specific disease but also may be caused by several interrelated problems
