  1. Computer
    An electronic device that is designed to process data, perform calculations, and communicate with other devices.
  2. Compression Software
    Compresses files. To send or store a file it often needs to be compressed in some way, to reduce the amount of space it takes up on the storage media or the bandwidth required to send it over a network.
  3. Computer Management Console
    Provides tools for administering the local computer, including Device Manager, Event Viewer, Disk Management, Services, and Performance Monitor
  4. Constant
    Identifier for a value that is fixed before program execution and does not change.
  5. Control Panel
    In Windows, it is a management interface for display settings, network settings, power options, and other settings.
  6. Cookie
    Text file used to store information about a user when they visit a website.
  7. CPU
    Central Processing Unit. The primary component of a computer that performs the majority of the processing and computing tasks.
  8. DAC
    Discretionary Access Control. Access control model where each resource is protected by an Access Control List (ACL)
  9. Database
    An organized collection of data that is stored and accessed electronically.
  10. DDR SDRAM
    Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory. Standard for SDRAM where data is transferred twice per clock cycle.
  11. Fuser
    A component in a printer that applies heat to fix toner onto the paper.
  12. Group Account
    A collection of user accounts
  13. Hexadecimal
    Notational system with 16 values per digit
  14. Hot Swappable
    A device that can be added or removed without having to restart the operating system.
  15. IEEE
    Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
  16. IMAP
    Internet Message Access Protocol. TCP/IP application protocol providing a means for a client to access email messages stored in a mailbox on a remote server.
  17. Ink Dispersion Printer
    Better known as inkjets, this is a type of printer where colored ink is sprayed onto the paper using microscopic nozzles in the print head.
  18. Integer
    Data type supporting storage of whole numbers.
  19. Internet
    The Internet is a worldwide network of networks based on the TCP/IP protocol.
  20. Internet of Things
    The global network of personal devices such as phones, tablets, fitness trackers, etc.
