wife and husband argue and she calls a friend to vent bringing in 3rd person. Conflict is still unresolved
  2. multigenerational transmission process

    • weak parents
  8. Parentification
child given power and autonomy that is more so parents responsibility
  9. feedback loops

    • nonlinear, network of interacting loops
    • ex: every family has difficulties but whether or not that issue will cause problems
  11. first order changes
    • superficial behavior changes that do not change overall structure
