Describe Web Property Management System (PMS) (4 Marks) & explain 4 Main Functions (12 Marks). (16 Marks)
- The Front Office of a hotel is the focus point of contact between the guests & the hotel therefore a PMS assists in the management of interactions between the guests & the hotel & to also provide an information hub for the guests.
The 4 Main Functions are :
- - Registration
- * Personal details of guests should have been electronically transferred with the usage of PMS.
- * With the usage of PMS, it will help to speed up the registration process.
- * Ensure that rooms are already pre-allocated prior to guests arrival.
- - Housekeeping
- * Helps to schedule room attendants & report room status.
- * Assign rooms for cleaning assignments.
- * Scheduling the various levels of cleaning.
- * Keeps track of cleaning activities.
- - Guests Accounting
- * Folio are created to allow charges to be posted to the guest's account.
- * Guests may have up to 2 folio, one for personal purposes and the other would be for business
- expenses.
- * There are two different kinds of charges, one would be the Room Rates while the other would be categorized as Other Charges.
