Video surveillance is primarily used to:

FIELD OF VIEW
Location or activity to be observed.
SCENE
Determines the clarity and size of the field of view.
LENS

TRANSMISSION MEDIA
Used to display one or more video images with appropriate equipment.
MONITOR
Equipment to select images to record, recording speed, resolution, and compression.
RECORDING EQUIPMENT
Used to control what video is viewed and where it is stored. Can also be used to change the field of view of a specific PTZ.
