Video Surveillance

  1. Video surveillance is primarily used to:
    Detect activities requiring a security response. 

    Collect images for later review and evidence. 

    Assist with incident assessment.
  2. The area visible through the camera lens.
    FIELD OF VIEW
  3. Location or activity to be observed.
    SCENE
  4. Determines the clarity and size of the field of view.
    LENS
  5. Converts the optical image from the lens to an electronic signal for transmission.
    CAMERA
  6. The medium through which the signal from the camera is transmitted to equipment for viewing or recording.
    TRANSMISSION MEDIA
  7. Used to display one or more video images with appropriate equipment.
    MONITOR
  8. Equipment to select images to record, recording speed, resolution, and compression.
    RECORDING EQUIPMENT
  9. Used to control what video is viewed and where it is stored. Can also be used to change the field of view of a specific PTZ.
    CONTROL EQUIPMENT
