  1. Vision
    A clear, distinctive and specific view of what a company would like to achieve in the future.
  2. Mission statement
    What an organization needs to do now to achieve the vision.  Describes the purpose of a company, its goals, and how it will achieve its vision.
  3. Innate

    Qualities or features of something
  5. Great man theory
    Theory that states history is largely explained by the effect of great men or heroes and their superior intellect and other attributes.
  6. Core Traits of leaders
    (CADHIKLM) Cognitive ability, Drive, Honesty/Integrity, Knowledge of the business, and Leadership-motivation. 

    Other traits: (FOCCA) flexibility, originality, charisma, creativity, and adaptiveness.
  7. Behavioral Theory
    Based on the premise that behaviors are conditioned as a result of experiences with the environment; anyone can be trained to behave in a preferred way.
  8. Contingency Theory
    A future event or circumstance that can't be predicted with absolute certainty.  Predicts effective leaders are those whose personal traits match the needs of the situation.
  9. Transactional Theory
    Focuses on supervision, organization, and performance.  Rewards and punishments are used.   Works best in organizations where there are linear processes and employees know their job well.

    Component of transformational leadership which enhances motivation and morale by connecting the employee's sense of identity to a project and the collective identity of the organization.
