Why have you applied for this post of responsibility?
- I am a committed hard working teacher. I want to be part of a senior management team and influence the direction in which Fingal community college is going.I feel through my experience I have learned some of the skills required to be part of that team.
- A leader, role model, good communicator, motivator, set high standards, a finisher. From my experience I feel I have a unique overview of what is happening in the school.

- I have done previous interviews which I am trying to learn from.

What have been the most significant changes in second level education over recent years.
- New junior cycle

- I think the new junior cycle although it has had a muddled start can bring self evaluation and literacy and numeracy together.

What particular challenges does your school face.
- Maintaining our profile in the local community where fingalcc has now become the school of choice, it can't be something we take for granted.
- Growing numbers, time to steady the ship.
- Maintaining high standards where doing higher level is the norm rather than the exception.
- Trying to change the perception of some parent and students where getting into third level becomes the norm rather than the exception.
- Getting more students at leaving cert to get into third level

What area of school life would you like to take responsibility for if you are appointed as assistant principal.
I would have no problem with continuing with ict but I also feel I am ready for new challenges and if given the job of self evaluation or school planning or year head I feel that I I am ready at this time to full fill any role given to me.

What is your vision for Fingal cc over the next 5 years.
- Continuing to work hard to take students with a range of abilities.
- Our results at jcert and leaving cert have improved with the intro of mixed ability at jcert as have our leaving cert results. We will have to work hard to improve and maintain what we are doing now.
- We have to work hard to maintain our nos and keep Fingal cc as our school of choice.
- We have already raised standards at jcert with the increased uptake of higher level for example maths where the national uptake is 54% our uptake is 48% and at leaving cert national 27% and ours is 17%.
- Our students attending college would be up around 80%
- We will continue to improve the facilities of the school.
- We will keep improve subject choice at junior cert and leaving cert.
- We will keep striving to work well with our parnters.
- Develop better links with some of the third level institutions in our area.
- Get more local business involved in our school.
- Our school is taking the lead and will do more in the area of ict.

- Hardworking,

What strategies have you used when dealing with a conflict situation
- No snap or emotional decisions.
- Listen first and record
- Allow people to express themselves
- Don't be denfensive
- Allow time for reflection will come back to you at a time and date.
- Don't leave it tool long
- Be clear in your responses
- Don't be afraid to take advice from your principal or vice. There might be something there in the story
- that you are not aware of.
- Make a decision and you can't please everyone all of the time.

What weaknesses do you have
- I would be slow to take praise for the work that I have done.
- I wouldn't be very good at self promotion.
- In the past I would try to do everything but with experience I have learned to delegate.

What do you do for pr in the school
During my time as ict coordinator
- We have built a new website
- Introduced twitter
- Facilitated the introduction of vsware which has improved the communication with parents.
- Also i have updated our ict facilities new computer room, wifi in the school.
- And introduced subjects onto the curriculum. Agricultural science. Created links with our local farmers.
- Took part in the campaign for the new school
- Have helped with back packing in one of our local shopping centres.
- Also I have given presentations to parent during open nights and 5th year option evening.
- I have always being involved in extra curricular and in the past organising school events Christmas concerts.

Are you interested in further cps inside or outside school
Yes I have taken courses online and taken courses in agscience outside of school. I have also attended insevice on project maths and biology. I took a course on coding during the summer. I have looked into toriocht and a masters but just at this time I can't do one but I would hope to do something along those lines in the future.

How do you deal with bad pr in relation to the school ,staff member or what you are doing,
- Find out what the problem is
- Be honest
- Show that you are dealing with it
- Deal with it straight it away and let it be known that you are dealing with.
- Be clear with your communication to all parties involved.
- Work within the framework and policies that the school are already implemented and
- Make sure that everything is recorded
- Review and abscess the situation and put in place a strategy to prevent it happening in the future.

What is the moral purpose of education
To improve the learning outcomes of all, academically personally and socially. We have to model good behaviour. To be seen always to behave in a proper manner in front of our students.

Can you think of any ways in which improve what's happening at leaving cert
Transition year, mentoring, setting targets for students, success. Improving teaching and learning through school planning. I have been an academic mentor for the last no of years and I feel that the one to one contact really helps to support the students in their learning. Transition year has been a big help in focussing and maturing the students. Our results have improved. Making sure students choose the subjects they enjoy and are capable of doing well in at leaving cert. the open night has been a big help in giving students more information along with ty about what the leaving cert subjects are like.
