Undue Activation of Alpha Protection
If at any time, with a speed above VLS, the aircraft goes to a continuous nose down pitch rate that cannot be stopped with backward sidestick inputs, immediately:
- a. One ADR .............................. KEEP ON
- b. Two ADRs ............................ OFF
- In case of dispatch with one ADR inoperative, switch only one ADR to OFF.

- If the Alpha Prot strip (black and amber) rapidly moves by more than 30 kt during flight maneuvers (with an increase in load factor), with AP ON and speed brakes retracted:
- a. One ADR .............................. KEEP ON
- b. Two ADRs ............................ OFF
- In case of dispatch with one ADR inoperative, switch only one ADR to OFF.

Emergency Descent
— Don oxygen masks and establish crew communications, if required.
- — PF:
- Altitude: Select 10,000 or Safe Altitude, whichever is higher.Verify OP DES.
Heading: Select a turn or proceed straight ahead.
Airspeed: Select VMO/MMO or desired airspeed.
- Wait minimum of 10 seconds then slowly:
- - Speedbrakes ...Extend
- 1000 feet prior to level off:
- - Speedbrakes...Retract
- - SPD...LRC (CI 0) or as approprate
- — PM:
- Make a PA announcement. “Emergency Descent, Be Seated,” advise ATC, check Safe Altitude, obtain altimeter setting (QNH), turn SIGNS ON and Turn ENGMODE to IGN.

- THR LEVER(S)............MCT
- A/THR.........................OFF
- If not in radar contact:
- Turn 30 deg left or right
SPD/MACH ON FCU............SPD
SPEED SELECT...................GREEN DOT
- When reaching green dot:
- ALT Selector..................Set EO REC MAX or lower ALT and Pull

- If no Braking Available:
- 1. REV....................................................MAX
- 2. Brake Pedals........................................Release
- 3. A/SKID & N/W STRG.............................OFF
- 4. Brake Pedals........................................Press
- 5. MAX BRK PR........................................1000 psi
- If still no braking:
- Parking Brake........................Short & Successive Application
