    • 2 x white lights controlled by pilots in azimuth and pitch without removing hands
    • 2 x white lights controllable by WO on which cable and winch area. 1 can be hand held
    • Serviceable forward, tail and winch lights
    • Aft flood light doesn't need to be serv
    • Cyalume stick attached to hook
    • Paper maps IF moving map not serv

  36. Can we land on ships if required?
    No. Not authorized to land on any vessel
  37. Procedures regarding approaching a vessel and radios?
    • They must have radhaz off before approaching
    • Limit radio comms
  38. What ht is required for winching rcm?
    Over water lines than 50ft AHO
  39. Best which area for medical winch from vessel?
    • Wind ahead to green 30 so you have abort to the front
    • MUST have vessel in view for hover reference at all times
    • If no winch or land area than stern or sides best
  40. What does HFIRES O stand for?
    • H- Height
    • F- Fouling
    • I- Intercom failure
    • R- Runaway
    • E- Emergencies brief from pilot... In the event of an aircraft emergency if we can maintain hover I'll advise, if not I'll attempt fly away or I'll land near.... If I hear Cut cut cut I'll activate the cable cut whilst announcing cut cut cut.
    • S- Stoppage / Swing / Spin
    • O- Overtemp
  41. What should you do before applying power to the winch?
    • Check that cable cut switch is OFF and safety cover on.
    • CB is pulled out
  42. Describe helocasting?
    • Aircraft set up the same as water winching
    • Min 3m depth
    • Either boat or land close by
    • Best ht 10 - 15ft
    • Not above 50ft
    • Phrase used "Clear to dispatch"
