-
What is normal brake pressure?
3000 PSI
-
What is maximum brake pressure?
3500 PSI
-
What is the normal hydraulic accumulator precharge pressure?
1000 PSI
-
Which system pressurizes the brake accumulator?
System B
-
Which system pressurizes the alternate brake system?
System A
-
What must be done to get the alternate brake system to operate?
Nothing, it automatically supplies pressure when hydraulic system B is low or fails.
-
How is the brake accumulator pressurized?
System B trapped pressure
-
With accumulator only, what braking is available?
Several brake applications and the parking brake
-
When is anti skid protection available?
When the normal or alternate brake systems are in operation
-
How does anti skid operate differently if normal or alternate brake systems are in operation?
The normal brake hydraulic system provides each main gear wheel with individual antiskid protection.
The alternate brake hydraulic system works similar to the normal system however antiskid protection is applied to main gear wheel pairs instead of individual wheels.
Both normal and alternate brake systems provide skid, locked wheel, touchdown and hydroplane protection.
Antiskid protection is available even with loss of both hydraulic systems.
-
What types of antiskid are available?
Skid, locked wheel, touchdown and hydroplane when either normal or alternate brakes are functioning.
-
Will the autobrake system function if alternate brakes are in use?
No, the system operates only when the normal brake system is functioning.
-
What are the conditions for RTO mode to arm?
-Airplane on the ground
-Antiskid and autobrake systems operational
-AUTO BRAKE select switch positioned to RTO
-Wheel speed less than 60 knots
-Forward thrust levers positioned to IDLE.
-
At what speed will RTO function if a takeoff is rejected, and what kind of braking will RTO apply?
If the takeoff is rejected after reaching a wheel speed of 90 knots, maximum braking is applied automatically when the forward thrust levers are retarded to IDLE.
-
What happens if you land in the RTO mode?
No autobrakes.
-
How is RTO disarmed after takeoff?
Automatically, but the switch doesn’t move (which is why it is part of the after takeoff flow).
-
After landing, autobrake application begins when:
-Both forward thrust levers are retarded to IDLE
-The main wheels spin–up.
-
How are the autobrakes disarmed after landing?
-Moving the SPEED BRAKE lever to the down detent
-Advancing the forward thrust lever(s), except during the first 3 seconds after touchdown for landing
-Applying manual brakes.
-Moving the selector switch to the OFF position
-
What kind of braking do you get in MAX?
Maximum braking, but less braking than produced by full pedal deflection.
-
Which hydraulic systems needs to be pressurized to set the parking brake?
A or B. If A and B hydraulic systems are not pressurized, parking brake pressure is maintained by the brake accumulator. Accumulator pressure is shown on the HYD BRAKE PRESS indicator.
-
Illuminated (amber)
-SPEED BRAKE lever moved to down detent during RTO or landing
-Manual brakes applied during RTO or landing
-Thrust lever(s) advanced during RTO or landing
-Except during thefirst 3 seconds after touchdown for landing
-Landing made with RTO selected
-RTO mode selected on ground
-Illuminates for one to two seconds then extinguishes
-A malfunction exists in the automatic braking system.
-
Illuminated (amber) – a system fault is detected by antiskid monitoring system.
Extinguished – antiskid system operating normally.
-
Can autobrakes be selected after landing?
Yes, anytime above 60 knots.
-
Will autobrakes function using the alternate brake system or accumulator pressure?
No.
-
Illuminated (green) – indicates valid automatic speed brake system inputs.
-
Illuminated (amber) –
-Indicates abnormal condition or test inputs to the automatic speed brake system, or
-During landing, indicates wheel speed has dropped below 60 kts, and the speedbrake lever is not in the DOWN position.
-
In-flight-
-SPEED BRAKE lever is beyond the ARMED position, and
-TE flaps extended more than flaps 10, or
-Radio altitude less than 800 feet
On the ground-
-SPEED BRAKE lever is in the DOWN detent, and ground spoilers are not stowed.
