    • Kidney stones results in decreased re-absorption of calcium.

    • Inversely related to calcium balance. Phosphorus levels are elevated in kidney disease, kidneys unable to excrete it.

    Most renal failure patients have metabolic acidosis and low serum HCO3 levels.
