Brought workers and machinery together in one place. Workers had to keep up with the machines. No longer working at home.

In 1790 he invented interchangeable parts. identical pieces that could be replaced by unskilled workers. He also invented the cotton gin which speeded the processing of cotton by uing spiked cylinder to seperate seeds from cotton fiber.
