- an acute inflammation of the epiglottis
- potentially fatal
what are the causes of epiglottitis?
- bacterial infection or injury
- very rare now due to HIB vaccine
what are the signs and symptoms?
- fever
- unwell/ distressed
- stridor
- difficult and pain to swallow
- sitting up/ drooling/ chin forwards
