    • Represent non random lines of development of skin, fundamentally differing from the system of dermatomes, and do not follow underlying nervous, vascular or lymphatic structures in the skin.
    • Not ordinarily visible, but recognized in several cut disorders that follow parallel streaks like epidermal naevi, sebaceous naevi, nevus lipomatosis

  5. Serotonin syndrome
    Potentially fatal syndrome caused by excess synaptic serotonin levels due to the use of serotonin potentiating drugs
  6. Diagnostic criteria of serotonin syndrome
    • Mental (cognitive /behavioural) symptoms: confusion, elevated mood, coma or semicoma;
    • Minor--restlessness, insomnia
    • Autonomic symptoms: Fever (hyperthermia), sweating (hyperhydrosis);
    • Minor--tachycardia, tachypnea/dyspnoea, diarrhea, hypertension/hypotension
    • Neurological symptoms: myoclonus, tremors, shivering /chills, rigidity, hyperreflexia;
    • Minor--incoordination, akathisia, mydriasis

    • Dx: Presence of at least 4 major OR
    • 3 major and 2 minor symptoms
    • following the addition or an increase in dose of known serotonergic agent
