  1. What are the 3 3letter formulas called and how do they relate to each other?
    • SST = SSW + SSB
    • Total = WithinGroups + BetweenGroups
  2. What is the formula for SST?
    What does SST stand for?
    • for each data-point

    • y=datapint
    • yHat= The great Mean
  3. What is the formula for SSB?
    What does SSB stand for?

    • do for each data-point in each group
    • (but only use means vs GrandMean)

    • Xi= group mean
    • xHathat = the great mean mean
  4. F-statistic value formula?
  5. What two variables are used with degrees of freedom calculations?
    What do they represent?
What is a degree of freedom?
    • m = nr of groups
    • n = nr of data-points in group
    • They represent how many datapoints you can remove if you know the total value of sst/ssb/ssw and still find all values of each datapoint. its like if we know
    • 5+10=15 then we can say we have 1 degree bc we can set 5=x and still know get the ans to X but if we say x + y = 15 then we can calc so we don't have 2 degrees of freedom.
  6. How do we calculate the DF for SST?
    (m*n)-1= DF
  7. How do we calculate the DF for SSW?
    DF = m*(n-1)
  8. How do we calculate the DF for SSB?
    DF = m-1
  9. How many formulas should I know?
    • 7.
    • SST
    • SSW
    • SSB
    • F-Value

    • DF-SST
    • DF-SSW
    • DF-SSB
  10. What is the formula for SSW?
    What does SSW stand for?

    • for each data-point vs currentGroupMean
    • Xij= datapoint
    • XHati = group mean
