At Kevin Nealon's party, Adam meets Brooklyn Decker without his wedding ring on, and they have a connection together.
The next morning, she finds the ring and assumes he is married. She refuses to date him because her parents divorced due to adultery.

Instead of telling her the truth, Adam tells Brooklyn that he is getting divorced from a woman named Devlin & that they're getting divorced because she cheated on him w/ a man named "Dolph Lundgren".
Brooklyn then insists on meeting this Devlin so Adam was forced to ask Jennifer to pose as his wife "Devlin" and they go shopping for new clothes to dress like a trophy wife.

A made-over Jennifer/"Devlin" then meets w/ Adam & Brooklyn giving them her blessing. However, after hearing Jennifer talking on the phone with her kids, Brooklyn assumes that her kids are Adam's as well.
Adam then privately meets with Jennifer's kids, Bailee Madison & Griffin Gluck.

To get them to play along and gives them the aliases of "Kiki Dee" and "Bart" respectively.
Adam accepts their demands for being his fake children.

Brooklyn meets the kids at a play center where Bailee has adopted a fake British accent, and Griffin acts very morose.
They blackmail Adam in front of Brooklyn to take them all to Hawaii.

At the airport, they are all surprised by Adam's goofball cousin Nick Swardson, who has adopted an Austrian disguise as the "Dolph Lundgren" that Adam had made up earlier.
To maintain the lies, Adam and Jennifer are forced to bring him along.

At the resort in Hawaii, Jen and Adam run into the real-life Devlin Adams (Nicole Kidman) and husband (Dave Matthews).
who invites her and Adam out to dinner thinking they were married. Nick agrees to take Brooklyn out to dinner so that Adam can go with Jennifer.

Since he is supposed to be a sheep salesman, Nick's cover is nearly blown when he is forced
to save the life of an actual sheep who choked on a toy whistle.

At dinner, Nicole asks Adam and Jennifer to tell each other what they admire most about each other,
and, as Adam and Jennifer talk, they start to feel a connection.

The next day, Brooklyn confronts Jennifer about Adam's feelings for her, which Jennifer dismisses.
Jennifer then runs into Devlin at a bar and admits that she pretended to be married to Adam to avoid embarrassment.

Jennifer confides in Devlin about being in love with Adam, not realizing that Adam was behind her.
He told Jennifer that he's not marrying Brooklyn & that he's in love with Jennifer.
