When the detector identifies a chemical agent the alarm will give on of three concentration levels. What are they and what are the values?
- Low - the detection devices (saw) preset alarm threshold
- Medium - 2 times higher than the preset alarm threshold (low)
- High - 5 times higher than the preset threshold (low)
-
-Hazmat CAD Plus-
High Sensitivity Mode will detect concentration levels ____ lower than Fast Mode?
6 times
-
-Hazmat CAD Plus-
How do you perform a confidence check and when should this be done?
- Meter must be running for 15 min and used in FAST MODE with all appropriate green lights illuminated. Use diffusion tubes by placing in sample inlet for 3-5 seconds. a "G" alarm should occur. This provides a TOTAL system performance check.
- Chlorine Bleach on a cotton swab can be used to check a response for Halogen exposure
- This should be done once a month and prior to any entry
-
- GAS RANGER -
What mode would you use to pinpoint the source of a gas leak?
Sniff/Track Gas

-
- TOXI RAE METER -
What do we have to know prior to using this meter?
What gas we are dealing with. The meter is a gas specific meter
-
- TOXI RAE METER -
What three gas sensors are supplied for this meter?
Ammonia NH3, Chlorine Cl2, Cyanide HCN
-
- TOXI RAE METER -
What powers the meter?
a lithium Ion rechargeable battery. The Toxi Rae should be kept on the charger when not in use.
-
- TOXI RAE METER -
What can you do if the meter fails to stay powered up?
Battery is dead .. Recharge the unit as soon as possible
-
- TOXI RAE METER -
The meter is passive. What does this mean?
The meter does not have a pump to pull the gas through the meter. Therefore, you cannot connect a hose or a wand to the meter.
-
- TOXI RAE METER -
What are the alarm indication codes?
- MAX - Gas exceeds electronics maximum range
- OVER - Gas exceeds measurement range
- HIGH - Gas exceeds high alarm limit
- LOW - Gas exceeds low alarm limit
- STEL - Gas exceeds Short term exposure limit
- TWA - Gas exceeds time weighted average limit
- CAL - calibration failed or needs calibration
- BAT - low battery
-
- TOXI RAE METER -
How can you find the measurement ranges for each sensor?
The meter will tell you the measurement ranges for each sensor during the warm up cycle
-
- TOXI RAE METER -
What are some key points concerning the Smart Cells?
- - Cells last about 2 years
- - Exposure to high temps or moisture can be harmful
- - Exposure to high concentrations can damage cell
- - Always keep sensors in keeper, in the meter, or on the charger. They can die if they go too long without electrical charge
- - cells exposed to very high concentrations of gas may take hours to clear or can be permanently damaged. Must be left running until cleared
-
