    • Organisation: How an organism is made up
    • Nutrition: The way in which an organism gets there food.
    • Excretion: Removal of waste from the body
    • Response: When organisms react to stimuli in their environment
    • Reproduction: production of new individuals

    The total sum the chemical reactions that take place within an organism E.G

    • Excretion

  4. What is the scientific method?
    A process of investigation in which problems are identified and their suggested explanations are tested by carrying out experiments
  5. What is a hypothesis?
    An educated guess based on an observation
  6. What is a theory?
    • A hypothesis that has been proven correct over a long period of time
    • E.g theory of eveolution
  7. What is a law/principle?
    • A theory that has been proven over a long period of time.
    • E.G medals laws of genetics
  8. What is an experiment?
    A test for a hypothesis
  9. What is an conclusion?
    A summary of the results of an experiment.
  10. What is a control?
    Used to provide a comparison against which the actual experiment
  11. What is a replicate?
    A repeat of an experiment
  12. What is double blind testing?
    Testing where both the investigator and the participant are unaware of the nature of the treatment the participant is receiving
  13. What are the limitations of the scientific method?
    • The extent of our knowledge
    • The basis of investigation
    • Interpreting results
  14. What is meant by the term "continuity of life"
    It means that life arises from other life

    A factor that may change in an experiment
