    • -immune system disorder
    • -unlike MS body will recover
    • -usually preceeds viral infection, flu or flu shot, hiv or trauma

    S/S
    • -numbness and tingingling in feet that works its way up
    • -possible respiratory failure
    • -bp unstable
    • -dysrhythmias
    • -symptoms usually peak after 2 weeks

    complications
    • -high risk for respiratory failure
    • -monitor ABGs
    • -possible intubate or vent
  5. guillain-barre

    treatment
    • -plasmapherisis
    • -high dose imunoglobbin IV IG
    • -support respiratory
