  1. What are the requirements when calculating LSALT for routes operating under RNP 2?
    Add 1360ft (no towers) or 1000ft (to towers >360ft) 5nm either side of track
  2. When can you fly night VFR below LSALT?
    • - Taking off in vicinity of departure aerodrome
    • - When destination aerodrome in sight and descent made within 3nm
    • - Being vectored
    • - With 'night sun' per dispensation
    • - NVGs (min 2 crew on goggles per AIP ENR 1.1 4.9.2 Note)
  3. If on goggles, what must you advise ATC of when below LSALT?
    "Request 'not above' ____ NVG"
  4. Class C/E VMC?
    • Vis: 5km
    • Cld: 1500m hor / 1000ft vert
  5. Class D VMC?
    • Vis: 5km
    • Cld: 600m hor / 1000ft vert above or 500ft vert below
  6. Class G VMC?
    • < 10000ft:
    • Vis: 5km

    • If helo VMC is allowed at destination (ie, CTAF by day)

    • - Serviceable steerable searchlight adjustable in pitch and azimuth
    • - If below 500ft or from NVIS BASIC HLS using IR searchlight, IF there's a NVD failure, the pilot can:
    • 1- revert to white search/landing light or
    • 2- If 2 pilots with dual controls, hand over
  20. Besides min equip for NVIS Ops, what additional NVIS req are there?
    • 1- Aircraft has min equip for NVFR/IFR flt
    • 2- NVG and mounting system for helmet
    • 3- Each crew has NVIS compatible torch
    • 4- Each crew has lip light and may use finger light
  21. When can you descend below LSALT over water at night?
    • - Req FD inc ALT HOLD which is not to be disengaged until base/finals and in sight of water
    • - No overwater transits below 1000ft AGL (NB need personal reason to be below LSALT anyway)
    • - Descent below 1000ft only when in cct area for landing or in surveillance area
    • - Descent below 500ft only when surface visible/discernable and no descending turns
    • - All altitude changes announced
    • - All tgt altitudes set on RADALT before descent
    • - All altitudes below 500 ft called
  22. What are your restrictions if conducting single pilot NVIS Ops?
    • - to/from ONLY HLS ANVIS Standard
    • - Not below 1000ft except takeoff and landing
    • - further descent to 700 ft is allowed if night sun/TRAKKA operational
  23. What are NO-GO faults for goggles?
    • 1- Shading
    • 2- Edge glow
    • 3- Flickering, flashing or intermittent ops
  24. What are acceptable faults for goggles?
    • 1- Fixed pattern
    • 2- Black spots

    • 6- Have instrument rating
    • 7- If transiting below LSALT IAW reduced minima then 2nd NVIS qualled pax up front
    • 8- Normal alt requirements

    • 10- Complete NVIS hazard risk where possible

    • Depends what time you start but a general rule is 10hrs

    • Dep Chief or Chief Pilot can approve a further hour

    • NO WINCHING BY NIGHT OVER OCEAN OR LARGE WATER AREA WITHOUT REFERENCE

    • Lights and intercom per over land winch

    • Only above 15ft if:
    • Training approved by Chief Pilot /TFO
    • Detailed plan/ brief conducted
