Ride Along Policy G.O. 45

  1. Ride along candidates shall fill out an application Form
    100.45A
  2. Completed application shall be forwarded to
    EOPS Deputy chief
  3. What does the ride along applicant record check for
    • Portland Police Data System (PPDS)
    • Law Enforcement Data System?National Crime Information Center (LEDS/NCIC)
    • Computerized Criminal History (CCH)
    • DMV
  4. Who can approve more than one ride along per applicant
    Battalion chief
  5. Ride-alongs' names and other information shall be entered into
    Company Journal under the Entry tab, and an entry made under the Productivity tab as Community Emergency Services (CES)
  6. Upon arrival what form shall be filled out by the ride along and forward to 139/MSD
    Hold Harmless Agreement, Form 100.45B
  7. Ride alongs shall wear what at all times when outside the station
    PF&R Observer vest.
  8. Emergency Response safety considerations for ride alongs
    a-d
    • a. remain outside all hazard zones
    • b. stay on apparatus unless approved by the officer or escorted by a firefighter
    • c. Remain on apparatus on all freeway responses
    • d. Seat belted at all times.
  9. Ride along activities shall terminate when
    who is exempt
    National Terrorst threat level reaches or exceeds ORANGE

    OHSU and PCC students
  10. Who may grant exception to any ride along guideline.
