Checked Limitations 737

  1. What are the fuel distribution limitations?
    - Main (wing) tanks must be full if the center tank quantity is greater than 1000 lbs.

    - Use center tank to depletion followed by wing tank fuel.

    - 1000 pounds may be retained in the center tank provided the effects of balance have been considered.

    - Center tank fuel pumps must be ON for all operations with more than 1000 lb of fuel in the center tank. (Some MEL items can override this limitation.)
  2. What is limitation for holding in icing conditions?
Holding in icing conditions with flaps extended is prohibited.
  3. Other than the speed limitations, what is the limitation on the use of normal flaps?
Do not extend flaps above 20,000 ft pressure altitude.
  4. What is the limitation for operating on one generator while on the ground?
(NG) - On the ground, limit one generator operation (engine driven) to a maximum of 215 amps.
  5. What is the limitation on pack operation for takeoff, approach and landing?
With engine bleed air switches ON, do not operate the air conditioning packs in HIGH for takeoff, approach or landing.
  6. What is the MAX altitude for operating the APU?
    41,oooft
  7. What is the checked limitation on thrust reversers?
Reverse thrust is for ground use only.
  8. What is the MAX Operating Pressure Alt for the NG?
    41,000ft
  9. When must the center tank fuel pumps be turned off?
Corresponding center tank fuel pump switch must be positioned to OFF when a center tank LOW PRESSURE light illuminates.

For ground operation, center tank fuel pump switches must not be positioned to ON unless the center tank fuel quantity exceeds 1,000lb, except when defueling or transferring fuel.
  10. What is the limitation on the alternate flaps?
Alternate flap duty cycle in flight is one complete cycle, then 5 minutes off. A complete cycle is movement from position 0 to 15 and back to 0.  The alternate flap switch must be in the OFF position for 15 seconds before reversing the direction of flap movement.
  11. What is the MAX Operating Pressure Alt for the 300/500?
    37,000ft
  12. After starting, what are the limitations for engine stabilization?
Operate engines at or near idle, after rollback, for a MINIMUM of TWO minutes(NG) or THREE minutes (MAX8) prior to applying takeoff thrust.

*RECOMMENDATION: On the first flight of the day, operate engines at or near idle, after rollback, for a minimum of FIVE minutes prior to applying takeoff thrust.
  13. What are TCAS limitations?
Flight crews must immediately respond to TCAS information (both TAs and RAs) by using the TCAS (Traffic Avoidance) guidelines located in the QRH Maneuvers chapter.

Pilots are authorized to deviate from an ATC clearance to the extent necessary to comply with the TCAS II RA.
  14. What is the EGT limit for Ground Start?
NG- Maximum EGT for ground start is 725 degrees C.

    Max - Redline

The EEC does not supply RED LINE protection but will shut the engine down if it senses an impending hot start.
  15. What is the MIN fuel tank temperature?
    -37 degrees C
  16. What is the limit on operating the radar?
Do not operate the weather radar during fueling, near fuel spills, or near people.
  17. What is the MAX fuel tank temperature?
    +49 degrees C
  18. What is the MAX altitude for operating the APU BLEED AIR ONLY?
    17,000 ft
  19. What is the limit for the cargo bay fire suppression system?
Aircraft must land within 60 minutes of initial discharge of the fire suppression system. (MAX 8E AND 8E 180 minutes)
  20. What is the MAX altitude for operating the APU BLEED AIR and ELECTRIC?
    10,000ft
  21. What are the limitations for tripped circuit breakers?
A tripped circuit breaker may only be reset once.  Allow approximately two minutes for cooling before resetting. An in-flight reset should only be accomplished if in the judgement of the Captain, regaining use of that system is critical to the safe conduct of flight.

Flight crews must not reset tripped fuel quantity, fuel pump or fuel pump control circuit breakers.

The flight Deck Crew should not cycle (pull and reset) a circuit breaker at any time unless the cycle meets one or more of the following criteria:

    • - Directed by QRH.
    • - Directed by  a procedure listed in the B737 AOM, FOM, MEL or Operations Binder.
    • -Coordinated and approved by Maintenance.

IN FLIGHT: The inflight reset of a tripped circuit breaker should only be accomplished when directed by the QRH.  Allow approximately two minutes for cooling before resetting.
  22. How long after IRS shutdown do you have to wait before removing AC power?
Do not remove AC power from the aircraft for at least 30 seconds after IRS shutdown.
  23. What is the limitation for a Circle to Land Approach Maneuver?
Weather minimums are a 1,000ft ceiling and 3 miles visibility.  Both ceiling and visibility criteria are required.  Review the Jeppesen approach chart to see if it specifies minimums higher than 1000/3.  If so, then those higher minimums are required to execute the circle-to-land approach maneuver.

Use a minimum descent altitude(MDA) of 1000ft above airport elevation unless restricted to a higher altitude in the circle-to-land minimums section on the approach chart.
  24. What are the engine limitations for cool down after landing?
NG - Operate engines at or near idle for a MIN of ONE minute prior to shutdown.

    * RECOMMENDATION (NG): When operational conditions permit, engines should be operated at or near idle for THREE minutes prior to shutdown.

MAX - Operate engines at or near idle for a MIN of THREE minutes prior to shutdown.
  25. What are some fuel limitations (4 of them) while on the ground at the gate?
    - Main (wing) tanks must be full if the center tank quantity is greater than 1000lbs.

    - For ground operation, center tank fuel pump switches must NOT be positioned to ON unless the center tank fuel quantity exceeds 1000lbs, except when defueling or transferring fuel.

    - Center tank fuel pumps must not be selected on unless personnel are available on the flight deck to monitor the low pressure lights.

    - Flight crews must not reset tripped fuel quantity, fuel pump or fuel pump control circuit breakers.
