Physiologic Changes in Pregnancy
- Repiratory: 20% increase in O2 consumption. 40% increase in tidal volume
- Cardiovascular: Maternal blood volume increases by 45%. HR increases by 10-15 bpm.
- GI: N/V common
- Urinary: More urinary output
- Musculoskeletal: Loosens pelvic joints. Low back pain.
Causes of Bleeding During Pregnancy
- Abortion
- Ectopic Pregnancy
- Placenta Previa
- Abruptio Placentae
Abortion

Termination of pregnancy before the 20th week of gestation.
Placenta Previa

Placenta develops of cervical opening at the bottom of the uterus.
Abruptio Placenta

Placenta seperates from uterine wall causing significant hemorrhage.
