DD FORM 365-1
CHART A- BASIC WEIGHT CHECKLIST RECORD is completed collection of DD Forms 365-1 for particular aircraft. A list of basic weight equipment and other items, by aircraft compartment, which are/may be, installed in the aircraft.

CALCULATION AIRCRAFT CENTER OF GRAVITY (C.G.)
The c.g. of loaded acft can be calculated when the weights & arms of the items which make up the acft gross weight are known. This can be done by using moments. The relationship between weight, arm and moment is:

sometimes design, manufacturing and maint. changes cause the acft c.g. to exceed it's limits. This is usually corrected by addition of permanent ballast that always remains in the acft. When the ballast is added to counter the temporary removal of an item or to balance a particular configuration, it's called temporary ballast.

REPORTING CUSTODIAN RESPONSIBLITIES
- -R.C. shall establish effective operating procedures for W&B control of assigned acft to their command.
- -Shall designate a qualified W&B Officer, and any additional qualified W&B personnel IAW OPNAVINST 4790.2
- -Shall ensure that W&B control system requirements and procedures of this manual, and related technical documentation, are complied with IAW mgmt procedures of OPNAVINST 4790.2 and OPNAVINST 3710.7. THe W&B control system requirements and procedures shall include but not necessarily be limited to ensuring:
- *W&B handbooks for all assigned acft, including newly received acft, are complete, current and maintained in the correct format.
- *afct are configured with proper amounts of ballast required to maintain the acft within the prescribed c.g. limits throughout its flight. The addition of ballast must not impair the structural integrity of the acft and therefore any new ballast must be approved by NAVAIRSYSCOM before it can be installed. Whenever ballast is required to balance an acft after the removal of equipment, ballast may be placed in the vacant equip mounts up to the weight of the removed equip.

PERSONNEL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Personnel assigned the responsibility for accomplishing the various administrative and record keeping functions for W&B control of assigned acft must qualify by graduation from one of the FASO W&B classes.
Personnel assigned responsibility for weighing acft must be qualified by graduation from one of the FASO weight and balance classes, successful completion of the Society of Allied Weights Engineers acft weighing course or NAVAIRSYSCOM accepted equivalent, plus have actual experience with active participation in minimum of 20 acft weighings covering at least 4 different TMS acft, of 6 weighings of specific TMS acft when the individual will be weighing only this TMS acft. Weighing experience must have been obtained within the previous year.
Personnel designated as Lead W&B Specialist at the NADEPS must be qualed by graduation from one of the FASO W&B classes, successful completion and the Society of Allied Weights Engineers acft weighing course or NAVAIRSYSCOM accepted equivalent, plus have 12 months of continuous actual experience in weighing acft with active participation in minimum of every 60 acft, including at least 5 different TMS acft. Weighing experiences must have been obtained within previous 2 years.
