  2. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF COMMON COLD
    Signs & Symptoms: Scratchy throat, nasal discharge, malaise, headache, cough.
  3. PARTHENOGENESIS OF THE COMMON COLD
    Pathogenesis: upper respiratory specific, prolific reproducers – cell damage produces the nasal discharge and histamine reactions; infection stopped by interferon, cell-mediated, and humoral immunity
  4. EPIDEMIOLOGY OF THE COMMON COLD
    inhalation of droplets, direct contact (transfer of mucous)
  5. TREATMENT OF THE COMMON COLD
    None. Prevention: handwashing and avoidance.
