You of this generation, consider the word of the Lord:
“Have I been a desert to Israel or a land of great darkness?
Why do my people say, ‘We are free to roam; we will come to you no more’?
Does a young woman forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments?
Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.
How skilled you are at pursuing love!
Even the worst of women can learn from your ways.
On your clothes is found the lifeblood of the innocent poor, though you did not catch them breaking in.
Yet in spite of all this you say, ‘I am innocent; he is not angry with me.’
But I will pass judgment on you because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’
Why do you go about so much, changing your ways?
You will be disappointed by Egypt as you were by Assyria.
You will also leave that place with your hands on your head, for the Lord has rejected those you trust; you will not be helped by them.
but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.
As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, A false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
1 John 3:4
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
1 John 3:8
The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left
Is 29:15, 19
Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness and think, “Who sees us? Who will know?”Once more the humble will rejoice in the Lord; the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
