Name the phases of diastole
rapid filling → diastasis → atrial kick
What happens that allows the filling in diastole?
AV valve pops open because of pressure gradient
What is diastasis?
flow in ventricles slows as pressure equalizes
Describe the atrial kick
atria contracts=squeezes remainder blood into ventricles
What perfuses during diastole
coronary arteries
What are the phases of systole
isovol contraction → ventricular ejection → prodiastole → isovol relaxation
What is isovolumertric contraction
ventricles contract but there is NO blood flow
What is ventricular ejection
valves open=blood pours OUT of ventricles
What is protodiastole
flow slows as pressure equalizes
What is isovolumetric relaxation
ventricles relax=valves close
