MLSSG
Loss of Ship Service Generator
-
Symptoms/Indications: MLSSG (L/O)
- 1. Loss of Lube Oil Pressure
- a. Low L/O Pressure alarm sounds (4.5 bar above 1600 rpm)
- b. Low Lube oil pressure shutdown activates (4 bar above 1600 RPM)
- c. High Lube Oil Temperature Alarm (105C)
-
Symptoms/Indications: MLSSG (F/O
- 2. Loss of Fuel Oil Pressure
- a. Low F/O pressure alarm sounds (2.5 bar @ 1800 RPM)
- b. SSDG slows or stops
- c. F/O service tank low level indicated
- d. Generator circuit breaker trips without command
-
MLSSG Possible Effects
- 1. Loss of SSDG
- 2. Reduced electrical generator capacity
- 3. Personnel injury
- 4. Class BRAVO fire
-
MLSSG Controlling Actions
- NOTE: When an alarm condition exists that does not cause an auto E-Stop, proceed as follows:
- A. RCO report alarm condition to OOD and order CRT to man affected space
- B. When ordered, CRT man affected space
- C. CRT report to RCO "Manned & Ready"
- D. RCO start stdby SSDG and parallel standby SSDG to bus
- E. RCO open generator breaker for affected SSDG and stop affected SSDG
- F. RCO report to OOD "Loss of No_ SSDG, No_ SSDG started & paralleled to bus"
-
MLSSG Immediate Actions
- WARNING: WHEN FUEL OIL LEAK IS PRESENT PROCEED IMMEDIATELY TO ID NO. MMFOL
- WARNING: WHEN CLASS BRAVO FIRE IS PRESENT PROCEED IMMEDIATELY TO ID NO. MCBF
- A.RCO report to OODÂ "LOSS OF NO_ SSDG"
- B When required, RCO E-STOP affected SSDG. Ensure generator breaker opens
- C. RCO ensure stdby SSDG starts
- D. RCO parallel stdby SSDG to bus
- E. RCO order CRT to man affected space
- F. When ordered, CRT man affected space
- G. CRT report to RCO "Manned & Ready"
- H. CRT visually inspect for fuel/lube/coolant/seawater leak
- I. When required, CRT man firefighting equipment and report to RCO "Firefighting equipment manned"

-
MDGGM Actions
- CONTROLLING ACTIONS: NONE
- IMMEDIATE ACTIONS:
- A. RCO split electrical plant, determine and E-Stop affected SSDG
- B. RCO start standby SSDG
- C. RCO close standby SSDG generator breaker
- D. RCO parallel unaffected SSDG with standby SDDG & establish stable electrical plant (ring bus)
- E. RCO report to OOD "Governor Malfunction No_ SSDG, No_ SSDG started and paralleled to bus"
- F. RCO order CRT to man affected space
- G. When ordered, CRT man affected space
- H. CRT report to RCO "Manned & Ready"
