    • For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,

  103. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
    2 Cor 5:17-21 (NIV)
  104. 17Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
  105. 20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

    • 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight--
    • 5:8 yet we are confident and satisfied to be out of the body and at home with the Lord.
    • 5:9 Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to Him.
    • 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or bad.
    • 5:11 Knowing, then, the fear of the Lord, we persuade people. We are completely open before God, and I hope we are completely open to your consciences as well.
    • 5:12 We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to be proud of us, so that you may have a reply for those who take pride in the outward appearanceF4 rather than in the heart.
    • 5:13 For if we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we have a sound mind, it is for you.
    • 5:14 For Christ's love compelsF5 us, since we have reached this conclusion: if One died for all, then all died.
    • 5:15 And He died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the One who died for them and was raised.
    • 5:16 From now on, then, we do not knowF6 anyone in a purely human way.F7 Even if we have knownF8 Christ in a purely human way,F9 yet now we no longer knowF10 Him like that.
    • 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new thingsF11 have come.
    • 5:18 Now everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
    • 5:19 that is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us.
    • 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ; certain that God is appealing through us, we plead on Christ's behalf, "Be reconciled to God."
    • 5:21 He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

    • 3For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;

  1023. Catch-up/review - Week 52
1024. What's The Fighter Verse Program About?
There have been at least four convictions which have guided the assembling of this collection of verses:
1025. 1. The life of faith is indeed a fight of faith. 2. The "battle" is becoming increasingly fierce while many Christians, we fear, are ignoring the greatest weapon we have--the Word of God. 3. We and our children must be armed for this fight. 4. If we commit the Word of God to memory we not only have a powerful weapon, but we also have an ever-present counselor and protector against the enemy of our souls.
1026. The name "Fighter Verses" reflects these convictions.
1027. Since it is true that, "the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour" (I Peter 5:8), all Christians, adults as well as children, need an ever-present counselor and protector. There is not the same spiritual power in saying, "Somewhere there is a verse about this," or "I wonder how that verse about God being my strength goes," as in boldly proclaiming, "Who have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:25-26) If we truly believe that we are in a spiritual battle, we would realize that it is foolish to walk through life unarmed. If we truly do not want to "sin against God", we will "hide His Word in our hearts."
1028. It is so easy to read the Word, or hear a sermon and walk away unchanged. We can choose at those times to squirm a bit when we feel the voice of God through His Word, but go on unchanged as soon as the Word is not in front of us. But if the Word is ever before us as a memorized Word, the Holy Spirit continually challenges us with the truth of Scripture. It is much easier to ignore an occasional Word than an ever-present Word. If we are serious about our walk with God, it seems imperative to have His Word ever before us. Proverbs 6:20-23 instructs us about how crucial this is--"My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching. Bind them upon your heart forever, fasten them around your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you. For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline, are the way to life."
1029. The version chosen for the fighter verse packets is the New International Version because it is the most easily understood version for children and because most children today are growing up with the NIV Bible.
1030. May God bless you as you employ this mighty weapon.
