  1. What is the nervous system?
    Specialised network of cells and is our primary internal communication system
  2. Describe two functions of the nervous system
    • 1. Collect, process and respond to information from the environment
    • 2.Co-ordinate the working of cells and organs in the body
  3. Describe the function of the cell body
    Includes a nucleus, which contains the genetic material in the form of DNA
  4. Describe the function of dendrites
    Carry nerve impulses from neighbouring neurons towards the cell body
  5. Describe the function of the axon
    Carry nerve impulses away from the cell body, down the neuron
  6. Describe the function of nodes or ranvier
    Speed Up the transmission of electrical impulses
