  1. Why are the oceans called the last explored frontier?
    Because explorers have explored most of everything accept the ocean.
  2. What are oceanographers?
    They are scientists and explorers who study the surface of the ocean, as well as the bottom of the ocean.
  3. What do the earliest oceanographers date back to?
    They date back to the 15th century.
  4. What did the earliest oceanographers do to cover up their black spaces in knowledge?
    They covered it with oceans in their maps and "Fantastic sea monsters."
  5. What were the purposes of the early discovery era?
    They were to discover new continents.
  6. What was different about the HMS Challenger expedition?
    They set out to discover what was underneath the ocean's surface.
  7. Who was the captain of the HMS Challenger?
    Charles Wyville Thompson
  8. What challenges humans the most to go underwater?
    The ability to breathe oxygen
  9. What was a later design that got rid of hard hat diving?
    Scuba gear
  10. Who invented scuba gear?
    Jacques-Yves Cousteau
  11. What is an underwater habitat?
    It is building underwater, like a space station it has air locks and many other features inside of it.
  12. What is a moon pool?
    It is an area where air meets water in an underwater habitat.
  13. How far can the average human go underwater in scuba gear?
    700m
  14. What was the Bathysphere?
    It was a machine that carried a crew underwater to discover alien life forms in the water.
  15. What were some of the upgrades added onto the Bathyscaphe that the Bathysphere simply just lacked.
    More room for larger crew, deeper diving, and more air for the larger crew inside.
