Some years ago a statement was made by grandmother that has since become legend among some of my family – “Tommy completes us.” This was of course made after she had been disappointed to discover that it was just me that had arrived at a family party and Tommy had yet to arrive. Not surprisingly her declaration led to many years of good natured teasing of Tommy.

Tommy isn’t the only that completes people though, since it is obvious to anyone that Julia completes him as much as he completes her. Looking back over the years I have seen them together, that they would arrive here today seems so obvious. Inevitable even. It’s impossible to deny the fact that these two complete each other.

So now I ask you to raise a glass in honor of their union, congratulate them on their journey so far, and wish them luck in everything that lies before them.
