Sternum and Clavicle

Mastoid process

Bilaterally: flexes the neck

Unilaterally: laterally bends the neck; rotates head to the opposite side

Spinal accessory nerve; 2nd and 3rd cervical nerves

Transverse processes of third through sixth cervical vertebrae (anterior tubercles)

First rib

Bilaterally: flex the head and neck; elevates the ribs during inhalation

Unilaterally: with ribs fixed, laterally flex the head and neck to the same side; rotate head and neck to the opposite side
