Steep Turns
- - Recommended altitude: 5,000' to 15,000 feet 10,000' if conducted in airplane!
- - Airspeed: 250 kts (65% N1)
- - Autopilot " Flight Director: "OFF"
- ENTRY
- 1. Set airspeed bug: 250 kts
- 2. Set Altitude Alert: "Assigned Altitude"
- 3. Trim aircraft for: 250 kts
- 4. Roll into a 45º Bank Turn
- 5. Simultaneously Pitch up 1° - 2º and increase N1 by 5% to 10%.
- 6. Lead Rollout by 10º and reduce power & pitch.
- *NOTE: The "Trend Vector" may be inaccurate at "G" forces exceeding 1.0. It is permissible to use the "HGS Guidance Cue"! SIMULATOR NOTE: Try using the arm rests to help stabilize the back pressure on the yoke. Work at keeping the pitch right on about 2° (just below the first mark which is 2 1/2°).
- - DO NOT TRIM THE AIRCRAFT! - KEEP THE BANK AT A CONSTANT 45°!
- - DO NOT RELY ON THE TREND VECTOR FOR AIRSPEED CONTROL!
- - The ADI has a triangle indicating a 45° bank turn.
- - The flying pilot is required to make all control inputs, including the addition of thrust!
- - Information provided by the VSI is instaneous and provides a reliable trend indication.
-
What is the "Set Up" for stalls?
- - Initiate recovery at "Stick Shaker".
- - Minimum Altitude: 10,000 feet
- - Recover from all stalls at 200 kts (60% N1).
- - All stalls are accomplished at 45% N1. - Clean and Approach stalls use "Landing Data Bugs"
- - Not Takeoff Bugs.
- - Takeoff Stalls use "Takeoff Data Bugs".
- - Both Clean Stalls and Takeoff stalls have the speed bug set to "200 kts".
- - Landing Stalls have the speed bug set to Vref flaps 45°+5 kts.
-
