I see here that you do not have any pain or complaints going on, & would like to get the health of your spine checked out. Is that correct?
Well that is a very smart thing to do!
So many people are walking around with problems that they can't feel but really do need correction.
I do see here you are experiencing (difficulty sleeping, anxiety, etc.) or you are taking medications for _______.

(WELLNESS) INITIAL CONSULTATION - INTRO TO CHIROPRACTIC - SCRIPT
Before we get started, I would like to give you a brief explanation of what chiropractic care is about & what you can expect on today's visit.
As chiropractors, we are concerned with the health & function of the nervous system. We're often thought of as "spine doctors," but that's because much of the nervous system travels through the spine, & when you suffer traumas, stresses or injuries to the spine, those injuries can & often do cause interference to the nervous system. Does that make sense?
(If they say yes, move on - if not ask what they don't understand & clear it up for them).

This nerve interference then causes all kinds of symptoms like the (chief complaint) you're feeling, but also symptoms like (secondary complaint) headaches, asthma, allergies, literally hundreds of problems that people don't usually attribute to spinal problems. Does that make sense to you?

*More than one complaint? Figure out which one is primary.
*Have they seen a chiropractor before?

WRAPPING UP THE INITIAL CONSULTATION - SCRIPT
With that in mind, here's what we're going to do today:
1) We're going to perform a spinal examination
2) A nerve function test
3) And we'll finish up with taking some spinal x-rays to help us determine the exact cause of your problem so we'll know if we can help you.
If we find that we can help you, I'll let you know that by the end of today's visit. And if we can't, I'll let you know that too.
Now, this is very important. We will NOT be giving you a report today & we will NOT be starting any chiropractic care on this visit. We're just going to determine if you have a problem we think we can help. Is that understood?
(If they ask why they aren't getting adjusted:
1) We don't want to adjust you until we have all the information we need about your condition, and
2) We don't want to do anything until you have all the information you need about chiropractic).
There's one more thing I would like you to know. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please let me know. We like to keep communication open which is very important for giving you the best results.

4) Thank them for choosing our practice & shake their hand once again.

RELEASE SCRIPT
I've looked over your exam results & I've found some reasons to believe you have nerve interference that's causing your (back pain, headaches, etc.), & I believe we can help you.
So, here's what we're going to do. On your next visit, we're going to give you a complete report of what we found today. This will be the most important visit you will ever make to our office. We'll go through a brief presentation & a written report of your tests. We'll show you your x-rays & answer any questions you have.
Then, we will begin your chiropractic care & give you your first chiropractic adjustment. We'll end your next visit with a financial consultation including information on your insurance coverage if you have it.
*If they're concerned about missing school or work - we can do a work note - it's that important!
There is one more thing I need to go over with you. I would like you to bring your spouse with you to the doctor's report. We are going to give you a lot of information, & it is important for your spouse to understand what is going on with your health. This gives them a chance to ask their questions as well. How does that sound? (Stress the importance of their spouse attending).
