What exactly is a juice?
- Juicing is a process which extracts water and nutrients from produce and discards the indigestible fiber
- Juicing makes the nutrients more readily available to the body in much larger quantities than if you were to eat the fruits and vegetables whole
- Juices nourish and restore the body at a cellular level
- If you are only juicing fruits, this would cause a rapid spike in blood sugar
- Fiber is also filling and without fiber in the juice, some people tend to get hungry again quickly
-
What is a smoothie? Why would I drink one?
- Consist of the entire fruit or vegetable, skin and all and contain all of the fiber from the vegetables
- Create a slow, even release of nutrients into the blood stream and avoids blood sugar spikes
- Smoothies tend to be more filling
-
What are antioxidants? Why are they good for us?
- Oxidants are free radicals which you find in the environment, but they're also produced naturally in your body - too many free radicals building up in your system can cause serious damage
- Antioxidants help prevent or stop cell damage caused by oxidants
- Occur naturally in fruits and vegetables
