(As the Ancient of Days, Jesus is from everlasting to everlasting. All nations and people will serve Him. He is the eternal God.)

apostle and high priest of our confession,
(Just as the high priest would go into the Holy of Holies once a year on The Day of Atonement, where he would present a sacrifice for the sins of Israel. So also, Jesus is the High Priest of our confession. He understands us in every way and He has made the permanent, lasting sacrifice for our sins with his own death on the cross. He makes intercession for us before the Father.)

like streams of water in a dry place,
(For me, this title means that Jesus brings refreshment to my weary soul. His springs of living water quench my thirst and bring renewed life during those times when I feel like I'm in a spiritual desert, and I'm spiritually dry.)

(As I obey Him, He is writing my eternal salvation. He is in charge of the prologue, the beginning, middle and the end of my life. Right now I'm in the middle, but He will see me through to my very last breath.)

(He is my Shepherd. He oversees my salvation. He keeps me safe from the enemy of my soul.)

the author and finisher of our faith,
(Jesus is the One who started the work in my life. He is writing my entire life from beginning to end. He called me to Himself when I was His enemy and hated Him, and now He is continuing this work in my life to bring me to completion in Him. He will make sure that I cross the finish line.)

a Branch of righteousness;
(Jesus is our righteousness. He is the ONLY righteous and holy person to ever live. He executes perfect judgment in all that he does. He is the only One who can make me "right with God, the Father")

the true bread from heaven.
Jesus is the only one who can nourish and satisfy our deepest needs. He is that living bread that can fill us up like nothing else can.

He gives life to the world, and He as the bread of God gives life to me as well. He satisfies my needs and desires like nothing or no one else can. He is my portion. He is enough.

balm of Gilead
(Jesus is our Great Physician. He is our healing balm; our healing ointment. In prayer, worship and praise, we apply Him as the soothing ointment to bring healing to our wounded hearts, to our beaten down souls, and to our physical disease.)

John 6:35 (NKJV) 35 _ __ ___ _____ __ ____, And Jesus said to them, He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
"I am the bread of life.
Man can only live so long without bread or water. Jesus is saying that He is the ONLY one who can provide us with eternal life. Just like without bread, we will die, without Jesus, we will continue to be dead in our sins, eternally separated from God. He is the bread that gives us life, eternal life.

the brightness of His glory
Jesus is the Glory of God revealed to all mankind. Jesus fully reflected the radiance of God, the Father. The brightness of His Glory was seen in everything He did including miracles, His baptism by John, the Transfiguration to His death on the cross, His resurrection and ascension. We glorify Him when we offer Him worship and praise.

the captain of their salvation
Jesus is One who brings us to salvation. He led the way and He is the author of our salvation through sufferings. Jesus tasted death for us so that we might inherit eternal life as sons of God.

the chief cornerstone.
In ancient times the cornerstone was the stone at the corner of two walls that united them. It was the visible corner of the foundation of the building and the starting point of all future building above the foundation. It was the most costly stone because of its beauty and strength. It was also the largest, most solid and carefully constructed stone.
- Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone upon which our faith is built, His Church is built. In Him, the Church and our faith is joined together.
