 FRACTION: A number that has two parts: part and whole Numerator: represents the part of the whole (top number) Denominator: Represents the whole or sum of the parts (bottom number) Factors: Numbers you can multiply together to get another number Multiplication: the addition of a number to itself as often as is indicated by another number Division: To separate into groups parts or sections Addition: The process of uniting two or more numbers into one greater number Subtraction: represents the operation of removing objects from a collection Method: a particular form of procedure for accomplishing or approaching something Multiplication Method: 1. look at the numbers in the fraction2. find the numbers that divide into both the numerator and denominator evenly3. make sure you choose the biggest multiple so that you do not have two repeat steps4. make sure it's in the simplest form Division Method: 1. look at the numbers of the numerator and the denominator 2. choose the number that divides into the denominator and numerator3. divide the chosen number by the denominator4. reduce to it's simplest form Addition Method (like denominators required): 1. line up the fraction vertically2. add the numerators3. place the answer over the common or like denominator4. reduce if possible Subtraction Method (like denominator required): 1. line up the fraction horizontally2. subtract the numerators only3. reduce fraction if necessary Multiplication Method (Examples): 1.) 2.)
