# 7th Grade - Science - Motion

Measures the distance and direction from the starting point. Displacement Distance divided by time Speed A push or pull that causes an object to accelerate Force When a system becomes stable or balanced equilibrium The force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are in contact with each other. Friction The change in position of an object Motion Forces that are equal but opposite in direction; when they act on an object, they cancel each other out and not change occurs in the object's motion. Balances forces Describes unequal forces acting on an object; results in a change in the object's motion in the direction of the larger force. Unbalanced forces Speed and direction of a moving object velocity Amount of matter in something; measured in grams Mass Change in velocity over time; always produced by a force. Acceleration An object's tendency to resist change in motion Inertia A measure of the force of gravity on an object; Weight = mass x acceleration to gravity. Weight Force of attraction between any two objects. Gravity AuthorBookworm48 ID302113 Card Set7th Grade - Science - Motion DescriptionMotion Vocab Words Updated2015-05-04T21:23:42Z Show Answers
