HTN in Pregnancy

• Develops after 20 weeks
• BP greater than 140/90
• Without proteinuria (negative or trace on random dipstick)

• Develops after 20 weeks
• Accompanied by preoteinuria (> 0.3 in 24hr collection)
• Mild: BP>140/90; protein +1, +2
• Severe: BP>160/110; protein +3, +4

• BP > 140/90
• protein +1, +2

• BP > 160/110
• Protein +3, +4

• 1st pregnancy
• > 35 yo
• AA
• + family hx
• chronic HTN
• Renal disease
• overweight
• multifetal gestations
•  different daddy
• facial and hand swelling

Progression to generalized seizures that cannot be attributed to another cause

• BP > 140/90nknown to exist before pregnancy or develops less than 20 weeks
• Also diagnosed if does not resolve postpartum

Development of new onset proteinuria (greater than 0.3g in 24hr collection) in a woman with chronic HTN
