Inadequate growth in infants & children.

Because of sensory or motor delays, like CP.

Observe parent–child interactions, especially during feedings.

Develop an appropriate feeding schedule.

Provide feedings as prescribed (usually 120 kcal/kg/day is needed to demonstrate proper weight gain).

Weigh the child daily and maintain strict records of intake and output.

Educate parents about proper feeding techniques and volumes.

Provide extensive support to alleviate parental anxiety related to the child’s inability to gain weight.

Abnormal motor patterns & postures caused by nonprogressive abnormal brain function.

Promote mobility & nutrition

delayed language and development due to the level of cognitive abilities it takes to produce and understand language.

developmental delays within the first 12-36 mos. or regression of acquired skills.

Impaired social interactions (isolation) and communication as well as perseverative or stereotypic behaviors.

Delay or regressed speech/language skills.

Lack of eye contact and ability to point.

The only treatment is for the child to achieve its optimum level w/ regard to the child's ASD limits.

Teach families and school personnel to use behavioral techniques such as time-out, positive reinforcement, reward or privilege withdrawal, or a token system.
