  2. TAKEOFF Alternate, when required:
    FOM 20.40 p3
    when weather is below Category I landing minimums for that airport (1 hour / 330nm)
  3. 123: What does 123 refer to?  
    FOM I, 20.20.3
    • an alternate airport is required if
    • 1 hour before and after, the weather is
    • 2,000' ceilings AFE or
    • 3 statute miles visibility

    • 2nd Alternate:  at or above alternate minimums for that airport

    • FUEL:
    • must be able to fly to:
    • (1) Destination
    • (2) Fly & land at most distant alternate, taking ATC routing into account
    • (3) Fly for 45 more minutes at normal cruising consumption
