Supraclavicular Nerve
Arises from cervical plexus (C3, C4) and innervates skin over upper pectoral, deltoid, and outer trapezius areas.
-
Medial Brachial Cutaneous Nerve
Arises from medial cord of brachial plexus and innervates medial side of arm.
-
Medial Antebrachial Cutaneous Nerve
Arises from the medial cord of the brachial plexus and innervates the medial side of forearm.
-
Lateral Brachial Cutaneous Nerve
Arises from axillary nerve and innervates lateral side of arm
-
Lateral Antebrachial Cutaneous Nerve
Arises from musculcutaneous nerve and innervates lateral side of forearm.
-
Posterior Brachial and Antebrachial Nerves
Arise from radial nerve and innervate posterior sides of arm and forearm respectively.
-
Intercostobrachial Nerve
Lateral cutaneous branch of second intercostal nerve emerging from the second intercostal space and may communicate with the medial brachial cutaneous nerve.
-
What are the 7 Cutaneous nerves of the upper limb?
- 1) Supraclavicular (C3, C4)
- 2) Medial Brachial (C8-T1)
- 3) Medial Antebrachial (C8-T1)
- 4) Lateral Brachial (C5-C6)
- 5) Lateral Antebrachial (C6-C7)
- 6) Intercostobrachial (T12)
- 7) Posterior Brachial and Antebrachial Nerves (C5-C8)
-
Cephalic Vein
- Radial continuation of dorsal venous network of hand, runs on lateral side and often connected with basilic vein by the median cubital vein in front of the elbow.
- Ascends along lateral surface of biceps, pierces brachial fascia, and lies in deltopectoral triangle with the deltoid branch of the thoracoacromial trunk.
- Pierces costocoracoid membrane of the clavipectoral fascia and ends in axillary vein.
-
Basilic Vein
- Arises from dorsal venous arch of hand and accompanies medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve along ulnar border of forearm and pass anterior to medial epicondyle.
- Pierces deep fascia of arm and joins brachial veins to form axillary vein at lower border of teres major muscle.
-
Median Cubital Vein
- Connects cephalic vein to basilic vein over cubital fossa.
- Superficial to bicipital aponeurosis and thus separates it from brachial artery, which is vulnerable to puncture during IV placement.
-
Median Antebrachial Vein
Arises in the palmar venous network, ascends on the front of the forearm and terminates in the median cubital or basilic vein.
-
Dorsal Venous Network
Network of veins formed by dorsal metacarpal veins that receive dorsal digital veins and continues proximally as cephalic and basilic veins.
-
Lymphatics of finger
Drain into plexuses on dorsum and palm of hand which form medial and lateral lymph vessels
-
Medial Group of Lymphatic Vessels
Acompanies basilic vein; passes through cubital or supratrochlear nodes and ascends to enter lateral axillary nodes which drain first into central axillary nodes then apical axillary nodes.
-
Lateral Group of Lymphatic Vessels
Accompanies cephalic vein and drains into lateral axillary nodes and also into deltopectoral (infraclavicular) node then into apical nodes.
