- Reduces BP without relex tachycarida
- Total peripheral resistance is reduces without significant alteration in cardiac output

Indications

Moderate to severe HTN

Contraindications
- Bradycardia
- Bronchial asthma
- Cardiogenic shock
- CHF
- 2nd/3rd degree heart block

Adverse reactions
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Dyspnea
- HTN
- Ventricular arrythmias

Dosage
- Adult: 5-20mg slow IV push over 2mins. Can give additional dosage of 10-40mg at 10min interval.
- Infusion: 2mg/min titrated to acceptable supine BP
