    (I) Lots of tiny neurones, synapses with sensory neurones in nose
  2. Optic
    (II) Visual information from the retina
  3. Occulomotor
    (III) Move the eyeballs by innervating muscles.
  4. Trochlear
    (IV) Move the eyeballs by innervating muscles.
  5. Abducens
    (V) Move the eyeballs by innervating muscles.
  6. Trigeminal
    (VI) Sensation from head/face. Motor control of chewing
  7. Facial
    (VII) Motor control of face, taste front 2/3 of tounge, salivation and tears
  8. Vestibulocochlear
    • (VIII)
    • Vestibular - Vestibules and Semicircular Canal
    • Cochlear - Cochlear
    • Senses hearing and balance
  9. Glossopharyngeal
    (IX) Swallowing, salivation, taste (back 1/3) of tounge, sensation of soft palate and pharynx, blood pressure and dissolved bloode gas conc.
  10. Vagus
    (X) Travels widely, motor control of diaphragm, pharynx, gut. Sensation from respiratory tract, gut, heart
  11. Accessory
    (XI) Motor control of head and neck
  12. Hypoglossal
    (XII) Motor control of tongue movements
