Knee Plica
- Remnants of fetal tissue in knee. Synovial plica are membranes that separate the knee into compartments during fetal development
- Plica normally diminishes in size during second trimester.
- In adults the exist as sleeves called "Synovial Folds"
- Medial Plica is most commonly irritated.

Osteochondritis Dissecans
- Partial or complete separation of a piece of articular cartilage and subchondral bone.
- Exact Cause unkown- Slow onset
- S&S: Knee aches, recurrent swelling, locking and catching.
- Care: Rest, Sometimes surgery

Peroneal Nerve Contusion
- E: Compression of peroneal nerve as it crosses the neck of the fibula. Direct Impact.
- S&S: Radiating pain, numbness, paresthesia, local pressure may cause pain.
- Care: RICE, protective pad during play

Patellofemoral Syndrome
Catch all term for pain that occurs in and around the patellofemoral joint.

Chondromalacia Patella
- E: Softening and deteoration of articular cartilage on back of patella. Cause unknown but attributed to patellar tracking.
- S&S: Pain with running, walking, going up and down stairs. Swelling and crepitus.
- Care: Mainly anti-inflammatories, modalities, and rehab.

Patellar Tendinitis
- E: Excessive repetition of running and jumping
- S&S: Pain and swelling.
- Care: Activity modification, anti-inflammatories, heat and cold, rehab.

I.T. Band Syndrome (Runner's Knee)
- E: Repetitive stress and overuse. Most often with runners and cyclists with structural malalignments.
- S&S: Pain over lateral condyle of femur
- Care: Modalities, stretching, warm-up and cool-down.
