1. Trapezius

    • Origin: External occipital bone protuberance,medial portion of superior nuchal line of the occiput, ligamentum nuchae and the spinous process of C-7 through T-12
    • Insertion: Lateral 1/3 of the clavical,acrimonium, and spine of the scapula.
    • Action: laterally flex, rotate, elevate, retract, depress, or rotate scapula upward and/or elevate clavicle; extend neck
  2. Rhomboideus Minor
    Rhomboideus Minor

    • Origin: spinous process of vertebrae C7-T1
    • Insertion: vertebral border of scapula
    • Action: adducts & performs downward rotation of scapula
  3. Rhomboideus Major
    Rhomboideus Major

    • Origin: spinous process of superior thoracic vertebrae
    • Insertion: vertebral border of scapula from spine to inferior angle
    • Action: adducts and downward rotation of scapula
  4. Supraspinatus

    • Origin: supraspinous fossa of scapula
    • Insertion: greater tuberacle of humerus
    • Action: abduction at the shoulder
  5. Infraspinatus

    • Origin: infraspinous fossa of scapula
    • Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
    • Action: lateral rotation at shoulder
  6. Deltoid
    • Origin: Lateral one-third of the clavicle,acrimonium,and spine of thescapula
    • Insertion: deltoid tuberosity of humerus
    • Action: abducts shoulder, flexion and extension, medial and lateral rotation of humerus
  7. Teres Minor
    Teres Minor

    • Origin: upper 2/3rd of the lateral border of scapula
    • Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
    • Action: lateral rotation at shoulder
  8. Teres Major
    Teres Major

    • Origin: inferior angle and 1/3rd lateral border of the scapula
    • Insertion: crest of the lesser tuberacle of the humerus
    • Action: extension of the shoulder, adduction & medial rotation at shoulder
  9. Subscapularis

    • Origin: subscapular fossa of scapula
    • Insertion: lesser tubercle of humerus
    • Action: medial rotation at shoulder
  10. Latissimus Dorsi
    • Origin: Inferior angle of the scapula, spinious process of the last six throacic vertebrae, last three of 4 ribs, thorcolumbar aproneurosis and posterior illiac crest
    • Insertion: intertubercular groove of the humerus
    • Action: extension, adduction, and medial rotation at shoulder
